About:
SCAD Educational Technology provides the SCAD community with live-streaming and on-demand video for educational use in and outside the classroom. This content is housed in the Virtual Lecture Hall (VLH), which can be accessed by students at all SCAD locations through the eLearning channel of MySCAD. SCAD Educational Technology offers support services for the VLH to SCAD academic and student-service departments to produce video content for the student community. These services can be requested for events such as conferences, guest lectures, lecture series, information sessions, group tutorials, and workshops.
Audience:
Faculty can use these lectures to extend a class discussion on specific art and design disciplines or use the material to support project outcomes. The content is openly available through a variety of access points anytime, anywhere for use to enrich the teaching/learning experience. Students can access the Virtual Lecture Hall to conduct research, explore design interests and access extra-curricular entertainment. Students and faculty also view lectures they can not attend in person. The Virtual Lecture Hall boasts an outstanding list of artists, design professionals, creative business experts and SCAD faculty that are also recognized professionals.
With this website, students and faculty across all SCAD locations can easily access a comprehensive range of resources for academic, professional, creative, and graduate-level writing. Two key features of the site include a floating action button, allowing users to book appointments or contact the studio from any page, at any time. Additionally, users benefit from “recommended” videos that connect them to relevant content. The site incorporates embedded videos with closed captioning, interactive tutorials and quizzes, as well as a variety of handouts, examples, and activities, catering to different learning styles and supporting the writing process.
Virtual Lecture Hall Goals:
To increase event accessibility across SCAD’s multiple campuses and various audiences. Extend the discussion and audience engagement with events held at SCAD.
The Peer Tutoring site is a platform designed for students to access academic assistance from their peers. It offers one-on-one appointments to support students with their course assignments, personal projects, software skills, and general inquiries related to various majors. Tutoring appointments encompass explanations of fundamental concepts, guidance on techniques, and constructive feedback for works in progress.
